چکیده
By combined numerical simulations and unidirectional solidification experiments, the temperature field evolution of seeding for nickel-based single-crystal superalloys was studied. At steady state, position mushy zone in seed moves down as melt is poured into mold. The holding time required segment to reach state less seeds with casting than those without casting. completely eliminate randomly oriented broken dendrites melt-back much longer that achieve a state. A short incubation stage before process; then, migration rate isotherm gradually increases until it vicinity withdrawal rate. Finally, effect on formation stray grains segments discussed.

Directional Solidification Microstructure of a Ni-Based Superalloy: Influence of a Weak Transverse Magnetic Field
A Ni-based superalloy CMSX-6 was directionally solidified at various drawing speeds (5–20 μm·s−1) and diameters (4 mm, 12 mm) under a 0.5 T weak transverse magnetic field. The results show that the application of a weak transverse magnetic field significantly modified the solidification microstructure. It was found that if the drawing speed was lower than 10 μm·s−1, the magnetic field caused ex...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation and Optimization of Directional Solidification Process of Single Crystal Superalloy Casting
The rapid development of numerical modeling techniques has led to more accurate results in modeling metal solidification processes. In this study, the cellular automaton-finite difference (CA-FD) method was used to simulate the directional solidification (DS) process of single crystal (SX) superalloy blade samples. Experiments were carried out to validate the simulation results. Meanwhile, an i...
متن کاملLattice strain evolution and load partitioning during creep of a Ni-based superalloy single crystal with rafted microstructure
In-situ neutron diffraction measurements were performed on monocrystalline samples of the Ni-based superalloy CMSX-4 during N-type g0 raft formation under the tensile creep conditions of 1150 C/ 100 MPa, and subsequently on a rafted sample under the low temperature/high stress creep conditions of 715 C/825 MPa. During 1150 C/100 MPa creep, the g0 volume fraction decreased from ~70% to ~50%, the...

In this study, the effect of Ta/W ratio on the microstructure and stress rupture properties of Ni-based single crystal (SX) superalloy PWA1483 was investigated. For this purpose, single crystal (SX) superalloys with different Ta/W ratios (0.75, 1.0, 1.32 and 1.5 in wt.%) were fabricated. The alloys were directionally solidified by Bridgman method under the same solidification condition at withd...
متن کاملFretting on the cubic face of a single-crystal Ni-base superalloy at room temperature
Fretting experiments were conducted on the (10 0) crystal (cubic) face of a single crystal Ni-base superalloy in two directions, /10 0S and /110S, to study the effect of crystallographic orientation on the fretting response in both partial slip and gross slip regimes. The study involved point contacts using a tungsten carbide (WC) ball with radius 10 mm tested at room temperature. Ball indentat...
